Growth Plan Decision a Major Disappointment
August 28, 2020 at 11:48 AM
On August 28th, 2020 a disappointing announcement came from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing who posted a Decision on the ERO. The change we were seeking in the Growth Plan -- which had been included in the consultation announcement 45 days ago with respect to the ESA provisions -- will not go ahead.
Here is an excerpt from their posting:
Mineral Aggregate Operations
Policy 4.2.8.2a) related to mineral aggregate resources in A Place to Grow will not be revised as proposed under ERO Posting 019-1680. It will remain as it is currently in the Plan.
Despite the fact that there was some public opposition to the revision, OSSGA had been advised in June that these changes would move forward. We will try to learn more in the days ahead as to what corrective action the industry can take to address this set back.
