March 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM
The Best Management Practices for the Protection, Creation and Maintenance of Bank Swallow Habitat in Ontario, developed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, focuses largely on Bank Swallow (a provincially threatened species) habitat associated with sand and gravel pits.
The intent of the BMP is to provide members of the aggregate industry with protection measures to reduce the effects of project activities on Bank Swallow and their habitat, as well as information on the creation and maintenance of nesting habitat for Bank Swallows.
In addition, the SAR Reference Toolbox is an electronic library of documents and tools compiled to support the implementation of the Endangered Species Act and associated regulation. The Toolbox includes best management practices, guidance documents, and technical resources and can be accessed online here.
