Aggregate Recycling Promotion Act (Bill 56) passes Second Reading with All-party Support

The bill has now been referred to the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs – where it will be further studied by MPPs before returning to the Legislature for third and final reading.

During the course of debate on Bill 56, eight MPPs spoke in favour of the proposed legislation, including MPPs from urban (aggregate consumption) as well as rural (aggregate production) ridings. The Best Practices Guide for Recycling Aggregate that was developed by OSSGA and the Toronto Area Road Builders Association (TARBA) was referenced by one MPP in his remarks while another MPP quoted the recent letter of support for Bill 56 signed by OSSGA, the Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA), the Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario (RMCAO), Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association (OHMPA) and Ontario Sewer & Watermain Construction Association (OSWCA).
