Bank Swallow Research at Pits and Quarries in Eastern Ontario

June 15, 2017 at 2:33 PM

Nature Canada is seeking industry participation in their bank swallow monitoring project. The project would require a few short site visits throughout the summer to document bank swallow breeding and foraging behavior. The goal of the project is to work with the industry to produce a practical guide on best management practices for swallow stewardship and discuss the potential for market-based incentives that could be used to recognize companies that are positively contributing to swallow stewardship and recovery efforts.

The project is focused on sites in Eastern Ontario, particularly the greater Ottawa region. If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Megan MacIntosh directly at Nature Canada, 613-562-3447 ext. 234.
